Dimensions: Height 60 cm / The statue of Laocoön and his sons is a very famous ancient artwork. The statue has been transformed into a bust and offered for sale. It was found in Rome during excavations in 1506 and is publicly displayed in the Vatican. The masterpiece depicts a group of people in life-size. The figures in the work are the Trojan priest Laocoön and his sons Antiphantes and Thymbraeus, who are being attacked by sea serpents. In Western art, it stands out for its excellent depiction of human suffering. The work, which was located in Emperor Titus's palace at the time, is attributed by Gaius Plinius Secundus to three Rhodian sculptors: Agesander, Athenodoros, and Polydorus. However, there is no general consensus on the period in which the work was made or its artists. Although it is in almost perfect condition for a work found underground, some parts of the work are missing. The original work can be seen in the Vatican Museums.
